4ever Discovering
Chillin in Singapore

First off, I am going to start by saying Singapore is 52 times smaller than TAIWAN.
We spent a long weekend there and I really really enjoyed my time there.
We had a few days to explore the country.
Danielle wrote a blog on the SENTOSA area- which a huge tourist spot, and just an area to go to do so many different activities. You can read her blog on Sentosa here
This blog is basically everything we did that was not on sentosa.
There are so many things to do, eat, and drink in Singapore.
Places to go:
Singapore Botanic Gardens:
We got up early and made our way to the Botanic Gardens. This is a huge area of flower gardens, trees, lakes. It is a huge chunk of green space. We went for a nice walk and visited the ginger garden, we saw the national orchid garden (we didn’t pay to go in). We walked by some waterfalls. It was a really nice place to go for a walk or run… You can bring a frisbee and play with some friends. Or a blanket and have a picnic. There are a lot of photo opportunities of the beautiful park. It is the only tropical garden to be a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The garden is free to go in, however, you have to pay extra to enter the National Orchid Garden. If you have a day to relax and go for a walk in the park, I would suggest going here for a hour or two. It is open from 5 a.m to 12 a.m. (You can also see some wildlife- huge fish, turtles, lizards, bugs, and birds :) )

Merlion Park and Marina Bay Sands:
Take a walk around the Marina Bay to see Merlion, the lion and Marina Bay Sands. Another great place to walk and enjoy a more city landscape is the boardwalk around the Marina Bay. You will get amazing photo opportunities of Marina Bay Sands (the Star Wars looking hotel) and the esplanade, the theaters that look like durian. You will also get a view of Merlion, who has a head of a lion and body of a fish. It’s a famous landmark in Singapore. We went just after a HUGE downpour so we were soaking wet in the photos. P.S BRING AN UMBRELLA OR A RAINCOAT TO SINGAPORE.

Gardens By The Bay:
Super super super cool Place. This looks like a futuristic garden. Nature mixed with modern structures. Singapore wants to be known as a City in a Garden, and this place really helps them make that claim. It is a very unique urban park and it is environmentally friendly. We only visited the Supertree Grove, which have free admissions. It is best to go at night because they put on a light show at 7:45 PM, and 8:45 PM. It is called the Garden Rhapsody. I highly recommend going to see the light and sound show.

PLACES TO GO TO EAT:
Chinatown in Singapore:
We came here to shop, to see, and to eat! There is also lots of history to learn about in Chinatown. There are numerous signs on the street with information about each area. Some of the street names are pretty memorable like mosque street, pagoda street, smith street, temple street. We visited Chinatown twice. We went to a very popular tourist grab restaurant (WE WERE HUNGRY AND THEY HAD CHILLI CRAB) for lunch.
It was very very yummy. If you get the chilli crab (when you get the chilli crab), get the bread that goes with it! The sauce is the best part! .
The Maxwell Food Centre:
This is in Chinatown! It is a great spot to find cheap traditional dishes. I am very happy we search to find this place. We ordered the Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice. Everything was pretty cheap- I would go for lunch (maybe even early lunch) because some of the popular places sell out… The Chilli crab was better than the Hainanese Chicken Rice but it was still yummy!
Oh yeah, if you are in Singapore, you definitely have to try DURIAN. It is like the fruit of the country. I mean they have theatres shaped like it. We completely forgot the rule about taking durians on the subway……. So we technically broke a law in Singapore. Durian is super sticky, it reminds me of the smell of gasoline///gross odour. I think everyone on the subway knew we had it in our bags… or else I was paranoid and thought so. I didn’t enjoy durian but don’t hate it until you try it ;)

We also paid a visit to the Singapore Pub Crawl:
It was pretty fun, if you don't know any locals to take you out.
Danielle and I enjoyed playing some BEER PONG at one of the bars.
We ended up at a club with tons of other foreigners.
Here the pub crawl link:
They even hire a professional photographer:

There are tons of other things to do in the small country, but that’s what we got done and I feel pretty happy about our vacation to there :)
