Maokong Gondola

Grab a pal, your easy card, and make your way up the Maokong Gondola

The Gondola is easily accessible by taking the brown subway line to the Taipei Zoo station and then you must walk to the gondola entrance. It's a view you do not want to miss.

It cost about 125 NTD one way, and the length of the gondola is around 4 km.  It takes about 15 minutes to get up.  Once you arrived at the entrance, there will be two lines.  Both cost the same prices, but one will be much more popular- because it offers an even more scenic view with a glass bottom.  When we arrived we didn't know the different so we obviously picked the shortest line... Once we discovered the difference- we we're a little bummed out, but we got the chance to see the beautiful tree line under our feet on the way down.

There are a total of four stops on the gondola:

Maokong Station

Zhinan Temple Station

Taipei Zoo South Station

Taipei Zoo Station

Bottom

Right now, we're only explored Maokong station, so I'll only be touching up on this location.  I will update the other stops after we visit them.

Maokong Station: Maokong = cat sky

This is the very top of the Maokong Gondola; where you get the best views.

You can almost see all of Taipei.  Once you get off the gondola, there is a tourist center, I would stop there to familiarize yourself with some trails you can hike.

We just walked around, took some scenic photos, grabbed a sausage on a stick, and enjoyed the good vibes.

Up in the mountains, it feels like you're in a tropical forest, especially with the bugs biting, so bring some bug spray!

This is definitely a place you should check  out, we didn't have much time

up there but you could spend hours hiking the trails, hitting up the food

stands, and grabbing a cup of tea while enjoying the views.

There is a temple at the Maoking station exit, if you continue to walk up the

path, and there is also a temple at Zhinan temple station, which is visible from the gondola.

We will definitely be going back !

Updates: It's officially June!  The countdown for summer has begun!
