4ever Discovering
So what's in my backpack?
This is probably not the ultimate packing list- but I will let you know

WHAT DID WE BRING TO CHINA?

Here is a quick list of things we decided to bring for our trip to CHINA. We will let you know if they were good ideas or just extra weight…
I’m always scared of over packing.
Since I was little, I would pack my suitcase and my mom would come in and take out half of the items and ask “ do you need this?” “When have you last wore this”? Unfortunately, my mom is not here to do that for this trip. Let’s hope I didn’t overpack too much…
Things that I brought: (not in any sort of list, just my thoughts)
My Lifestraw water bottle:
I can potentially drink water safely from any body of water with the expectation of the ocean. Water is life, so I thought this was a great purchase. It was around 40 dollars, and had some great reviews. I have tried just the straw before while I was camping in Canada, I decided to upgrade to the bottle.
A sleeping bag liner:
You never know when you will stay in a hostel that only offers a bed and no sheets. Or, if I get a little chilly on a bus or a plane, I can take out my little easy to pack liner.
My Go Pro:
OBVIOUSLY- PICS FOR THE BLOG ;)

Selfie Stick and Lens:
Danielle and I are travelling just the two of us, I always feel bad going up to strangers and asking if they can take a picture! This way we get to avoid the awkward interaction. (I mean we will probably still ask people to take a picture…but if there is no one there, we got options lol)
My Travel Bag:
Wowww. I haven’t used this thing in a while! I am nervous picking it up, so memories! I hope China treats it well! A travel backpack is waaay more convenient than a rolling suitcase, I recommend a backpack over any other suitcase!
A waterproof “resealable bag for my Iphone:
Recently I dropped my phone in the washing machine, and fortunately it still works. I don’t want to take another chance at wrecking it. Danielle and I purchased a little resealable bag from Decathlon.
First Aid Kit:
Before I left Canada, I purchased a little first aid kit, it fits perfectly in the top component of my travel bag. I make sure to go through it before I travel to make sure everything is updated and that I know exactly what’s in there… You always want to be safe. It’s something that you bring that you hope you won’t use.
China cellular sim card:
This is a sim card we got here in Taiwan, it has 3 GB, and it’s suppose to work through the Taiwanese network. We might be able to access certain sites that are usually blocked in China like: google, facebook, instagram, etc. Or we might not.. We will see. It was around 20 dollars Canadian.
Quick Dry Towels:
Kinda obvious.

Canadian Apparel and Flag:
Hats, gloves, scarfs, flags, shirts!!
We will be representing the NORTH when we travel and hope to take picture of us with the Canadian Flag at multiple locations! :)
A Safe Travel Blessings:
We purchased this at Longshan Temple to bring us good luck! \
A small day backpack:
Decathlon has these amazing little backpacks for 4 dollars that are perfect for day trips.
Medical Masks:
Yes…. we’ve heard about the air pollution and we will be protecting ourselves by wearing the medical masks!

Spoon and Chopsticks:
We were told to bring these, because the cleanliness of some restaurants are questionable.

Hand Sanitizer and tissues
…. Keep clean

Ear Plugs:
WE ARE STAYING IN A HOSTEL WITH 21 OTHER PEOPLE IN HONG KONG!!!
The important stuff: passports, bank cards, toiletries, flip flops, a plastic bag for dirty clothes, deodorant, TRAVEL JOURNAL.
Another thing I did before I left was download a bunch of apps on China’s history!!!
THERE IS SO MUCH INFORMATION, it is very overwhelming and I will never know like 1/100 or 1/1000 percentage of China’s history but I’ll learn whatever I can.
Some of the podcasts I’ve downloaded are:
-World History:
China
China, Part 2
-Stuff you should know
The Great Wall of China Episode
How the Terracotta Army Works
The Expats:
-Episode 31: Canadian Expat in Beijing
The China Podcast
-The History of Hong Kong Part 1
-Chinese New Year
Annnnd I think that’s all that really matters.
So, we will let you what was useful and what wasn't.
Also, what we forgot and had to pick up on the way!
Wish us luck,
We’re a little nervous
<3
