Delicious dishes in penghu

OKAY… so you guys already know we are all about the views and the food.
We love seeing stuff and we love eating…
So on our trip to Penghu, we didn’t just go sight seeing. We grabbed a lot of local dishes the little island has to offer. Luckily, we had a local with us to help go to the best little food shacks and restaurants.
Usually Danielle and I … (Mostly me) are not that patient, but when it comes to food… I don’t mind waiting a little longer than usual. So, if you see a food stand with a long line, that probably means the food is delicious.
Here are list of food that you must try:
(Okay, side note: I don’t actually know the name of most of these dishes, as they are Taiwanese, and their names will be in Mandarin... )
But what I can tell you is we found all these dishes around the same area, in Magong City on the old street, sometimes referred to “Penghu Central Old Street”

1. Taiwanese Burger with fried fish. All the same greatness of the traditional Taiwanese Burger but filled with fried fish instead of Pork Belly.
2. Thin Noodle Soup with fried fish.
Okay, so the fried fish was really yummy, and so was this soup.
3. Penghu's version of the Green Onion Pancake.
We love the green onion pancake, we especially loved this one because you can get it filled with eggs. It was paired with soy milk- the locals drink soy milk instead of coffee for breakfast. (Danielle liked the soy milk option, I am a huge PRO-coffee girl)
4. Rice, Fried Pork, Cabbage, Eggs, and beef?
This was just a mix of goodness. We went to a restaurant to grab this dish- they even had a translated English menu. It was a nice place where we could sit down and enjoy our meal.
5. Baked Wheat Cake Bread with bacon, eggs, cheese, vegetables breakfast sandwich.
This was probably the longest wait time. It was delicious, a perfect mix of meat, cheese, and vegetables. It was very filling too, definitely worth the wait. It was probably my favourite dish from the food stands on the old street.
6. Sticky Rice with egg, dried pork, cabbage, peanuts, twisted cruller. Also known as a Taiwanese Breakfast rice-roll.
Okay... this little rice-roll is the most filling breakfast roll I've ever had. The sticky sweet rice with radish, fried egg, dried shredded pork was delicious. I especially liked the crunchy past of the Chinese cruller which reminds me of the Spanish Churro. It is a very unique rice roll that I enjoyed very much.

7. The mother of all meals: ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT- BBQ
woooooooowwww. This place was so cool. The Picnic tables are designed to have a bbq inside of them. You pay a fixed price for all this food waiting to be cooked onto your bbq. They have special sauces too. Meat from pork, hot dogs, squid balls, to oysters. You have lots of veggies too. You do not leave this place hungry... I highly recommend going, and going on a really empty stomach. End your dinner by roasting some marshmallows on your BBQ.
Penghu is a little island you do not want to miss out. It has all those island vibes, where people feel more relaxed. It was a perfect week-end getaway with great views, great friends, and great food. I could not be happier to take my ONE DAY OFF coming to this island. (My stomach was also very happy)
