Wushi   Port

Wushi port is located Northeast of Taiwan. We took the passenger train and it took us around 1 hour and a half to get there. You pass Fulong Beach to get there, so if you see Fulong, you’re going the right way.

For our friend’s birthday, we decided to go to HoneyMoon Bay because she really wanted to surf, I know, I know, you’re probably reading this and being like “Have you been drinking… the title says Wushi Port.

Surf’s up, Cowabunga dude!

Fresh

Well, funny story, we did take the train to Honeymoon bay, and we were walking and saw surfer Jeff’s store.(link to website)  We stopped and asked him about the price and times, and oru friend decided she was in.  Danielle and I hadn’t gotten paid so we said we would watch her on the beach.  We were waiting to walk to the beach when surfer Jeff pulled up in a big van and another surfer came in a small car.  They informed us we had to go to a different beach, apparently Honeymoon Bay is too rough with rocks.  And that is how we ended up at Wushi Port.

Originally, the surfer teaches told us that we couldn’t swim at this beach, and we were pretty bummed out. Especially because we finally convinced 3 of our friends to come for a sunday funday beach day.  We grabbed a hot dog with the words and some fries and then headed to a store to get our floaties blown up.  Heads up, there are 4 times as many surf shop as there are food options.  So I would pack a large, we got to the hot dog guy right before he ran out of fries… some of our friends weren’t so lucky.

You go to the beach and you see hundreds of people surfing.  Most people are in groups but there are a good number of local very skilled surfer.  I felt like I was in a surf city in Cali,  beach vibes, boys with long hair and sunnies.  Our friend surfed for 3 hours and we luckily got the chance to swim.  You just have to walk down to the very end where there are “hardly” anymore surfers.  Once we did, other people joined and we did not get hit with any surfboards.  There are tables and chairs with umbrellas to leave your stuff.  We left our valuables and everything was O.K.  People are pretty trustworthy here, just don’t leave anything in the open.  The beach is pretty nice, the sand is wet so you can’t really longue on the beach but I would recommend going if you want to surf in Taiwan!

We got pretty lost looking for the train station- I don’t know why….. Because it’s legit right in the town (near a pizza restaurant ;) )…. We should actually remain our blog; #foreverlost

There will be an international surfing tournament at HoneyMoon Bay (Wushi Port) in winter, we are thinking about attending, so keep posted!

Not a bad place for a beer
